About Jumonji university

The Six Strengths of Jumonji

1. Jumonji Studies

What a woman needs to live in the now

For students who are reading to become adults, Jumonji Studies are for acquiring the wisdom to live as women, while showing off their individuality.

Common subjects to be taken in all departments -- four areas of "creating a foundation for learning," "learning local community and society," "learning independence and how to live women" and "learning about mankind and nature" – are furnished.

Amongst these, in “general subjects” in the area of "creating a foundation of learning," in particular, students learn through the "Crown Courses," in close connection with society from instructors who work in the private sector.

2. Small-class size education

Professors understand both big dreams and small worries

School days are when students are flooded with various “values” and “knowledge”. For this purpose, we strongly focus on the individuality of students, which are susceptible to drifting, through small-class size education.

For Freshmen and Sophomores, we have introduced the class designated teacher system, where the instructors know the students’ faces and names, as well as understanding their dreams and problems. From the Junior year on, through seminar activities and devoted support, we back-up the student’s growth. At Jumonji, we are proud of the closeness between teacher and student -- where the student can freely discuss anything.

3. International exchange

Short-term and long-term study abroad in America, England, Canada and China

The International Exchange Center provides backing for the dreams of ambitious students who aspire to make the leap abroad to broad-based education, to acquire knowledge and to widen their vision.

Through our sister schools, friend schools, and partner schools in four countries of America, England, Canada, and China, short-term and long-term study abroad is carried out in accordance with the student’s goals. We support those who desire to study abroad at our overseas partner schools -- even after graduation. What is more, on campus there are about 160 students from overseas enrolled, and there is active international exchange even on campus.

4. Practical training & internships

Through living experience, take a big step closer towards society

Life experience produces a great deal of awareness, and both success and failure will be rich nourishment for life afterwards. For this purpose, at Jumonji, we stress training, practice and internships. Specialized studies at university are checked out in the real world, and the things that are absorbed from society are brought back to the university and activated in learning, and the repetition thereof brings forth significant growth. The advance guidance given when going out into the field, including workforce etiquette, is invaluable. Advisor instructors frequently visit the field and support students in their experience of society.

5. Remedial education

Fostering willingness and joy to learn

Some have no confidence in their academic ability, and do not know which direction to take in pursuing their studies. For students having this sort of anxiety, our Remedial Education Center provides support for academic aspects. Specialist instructors give compassionate guidance as learning consultants in pursuit of academic skills assurance education. The Center is also furnished with Active Learning study rooms where bi-directional classes are conducted and students tackle issues on their own initiative. Through these, motivation and joy in learning are developed, and subsequent study at the university becomes more productive.

6. An Environment for Learning

Four crucial years spent in amidst Musashino greenery

With brick colored school buildings ornamented with cherry, zelkova and ginko trees, and grounds with grassy lawns and wooded areas of primeval trees, Jumonji is a nature-rich learning environment. In tune with the landscape as it slowly changes through the four seasons, awareness of “the now” becomes constant. During these crucial four years of university life, students envision themselves in the future.
